When Sheep Go Astray
Jeremiah Jonathan

Ouuu.
I keep losing all my faith in you.
All my faith in you.
Ouuu.
I keep losing all my faith in you.
All my faith in you.

Some shepherds
never practise what they’re preaching.
Some shepherds
be exploiting who they’re leading.
Some shepherds
wear a ring, but always cheating.
Some shepherds
have the tithes somehow leaking.
Some sheep
know what happened to the offering.
Some sheep
know who tampered with the basket.
Some sheep
lose faith in who they’re following.
Some sheep
step away from the passage.

When the sheep go astray from the flock
and they no longer want to suffer for the gospel,
and they’re ashamed that they gave all their trust,
and their behaviour turns to idle and disruptive.
Poking holes,
pointing fingers all around them.
Sitting out the pew,
and in the seat of judgement.
Stepping over limits,
roaming with the lawless.
Children of the day are roaming in the darkness.
Reversing through the distance that they conquered when the essence of the Scripture
had been treated as a compass.
Now they tumble down a path
that is paved in despair and corruption…
straight into destruction.
Licking up the puddles of their vomit.
Deflecting all their shame toward the pulpit.
Breaking down the blame
and giving sheep and giving shepherds.
Adding up the blame to The Top Shepherd.

When the shepherds go astray from the flock,
and they forget that they too are the sheep,
the chain gets rusty.
When they think that they’re the cream of the crop,
and they parade around as if they never sin,
the chain gets rusty.
When they’re looking down upon a sinner,
it gets rusty.
Judging all their brothers and their sisters,
it gets rusty.
They don’t have the patience to encourage?
Rusty.
They might have some faith,
but no goodness.
Rusty.
They might have some faith,
but what’s faith without qualities
like godliness, affection, and love
on increase?
They might have some faith,
but what’s faith without staying in alignment
with the Word?
Dead without deeds.
Some followers act like Chief Commander.
Some crops be acting like The Farmer.
Some sheep take the mantle of the shepherds,
and act as if they’re level
with The Top Shepherd.
